Into the Blue Cave, out to Mamula.

The bay looks best from the top.
Ride the switchbacks up to Lovćen, where the whole Boka drops away in a single blue crescent and Njegoš’s mausoleum sits at the roof of the country. Stop in Njeguši for smoked ham and mountain cheese on the way down. The road everyone underestimates until they’re on it.

The Boka eats slowly. Njeguši prosciutto, Kotor’s back-lane konobas, wine from the hills above the water. These are the tastings worth an afternoon, guide and glass included.

Trade the tour boat for a kayak or a paddleboard: hug the shoreline past sunken chapels and hidden coves, into sea caves the big boats can’t enter. Early mornings are glass-flat and yours alone.
Perast keeps its own time.
Twelve baroque palaces, a fistful of churches, and not a single car. Perast was built by sea captains and still faces the water. Two islands float offshore: one natural, one raised stone by stone over four centuries. Come for the boat trip, stay for the quiet.
